HIKERS AND RUNNERS
CODE OF CONDUCT

These guidelines are in place to help riders, trail runners and hikers play harmoniously together at Mystic Mountain Bike Park - whilst helping you and others stay safe and keep the park in good condition for the future.

All hikers and runners of Mystic Mountain Bike Park are bound by the park’s trail running and hiking code of conduct below when entering and using the park.

This code is to be used in conjunction with the current Code of Conduct for Mystic Park. Hikers and runners must follow the non-bike guidelines in the Rider's Code of Conduct.

Any hiker or runner not complying with both Codes will have their membership revoked and may face long-term bans from the park.

Your knowledge, decisions and actions contribute to your safety and that of others.

You waive your rights to sue as outlined in the Mystic Park waiver.

IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO ALWAYS:

1. USE DESIGNATED 'ON-FOOT' TRAILS ONLY

Runners and walkers must keep to 'on-foot trails' when running or hiking inside Mystic Park. You can travel both directions on the climbing trails. Refer to Mystic Park On-Foot Trail Map for list of 'on-foot trails' and climbing trails (highlighted in yellow).

2. STAY OFF MOUNTAIN BIKE TRAILS

Do not run or hike on any mountain bike trails that isn’t a designated on-foot or climbing trail.

3. STAY OFF THE SHUTTLE ROAD

Runners are hikers are allowed to use all firebreak roads. Please keep to one side and listen out for vehicles behind you. Due to high traffic collision risk, minimise running or hiking on the shuttle vehicle road (Mystic Lane > Huggins Road > Moran Road).

4. BE ALERT TO YOUR SURROUNDINGS

It is recommended not to wear headphones when hiking or running on any mountain bike trail so that you can hear other users, riders and vehicles approaching.

5. COME PLAY ON DRY DAYS ONLY

Avoid running or hiking on mountain bike trails when wet as this can damage the trails. Treading on muddy trails causes rutting and maintenance headaches for the trail maintenance crew.

6. BE KIND TO THE MTB TRAILS

Please do not stand, walk or run on the edges of berms or edges of jumps as this can destroy them.

7. GIVE WAY TO RIDERS

Hikers and runners must always giveaway to riders. Listen for riders behind you and find a safe spot to stand aside and let them pass.
